PURSUIT: FAILURE
CALL FOR REJECTS

For our first PURSUIT, in times of apparent crisis, a failing economy and a collapsing art market (and potentially fading self-esteem) we were launching a CALL FOR REJECTS.

In the first stage of the project FAILURE we were looking to gather accounts and documents of what visual artists consider their ‘creative failures’, to investigate the parameters and the elasticity of such a term.

We asked artists to send us an image of an artwork that was rejected alongside a description of the rejected project. Whatever was the reason for holding onto them, we wanted to hear about them and received images, scans and snaps of works which got caught at the back of plan-chest drawers, that were gathering dust on top of shelves or languished on a hard-drive somewhere.

To browse the submitted works see the full archive of REJECTS.
